Social Media...Simply
Tribe
Donna Chessum, Deputy Managing Director

Time: 12:10pm-12:40pm, Seminar Room 1

Social media is not a fad for 14 year olds. It is a fundamental shift in the way we communicate. Businesses and organisations need to be aware of what is happening out there in cyber space, understand where and how people are talking and sharing information, and how online conversations can affect their reputations – for good or bad. In this session we will look at examples of how some businesses have successfully used social media to deliver news, provide customer service, manage a crisis and to promote themselves. We will also look at some of the free and paid-for tools that can help you ‘listen in’ to social media conversations, identify and prioritise your fans and detractors, and to engage with them in a timely and relevant way.

About Donna
Donna has 25 years’ experience in PR, marketing and media. She cut her teeth in the marketing department of the country’s leading newspaper group and was corporate brand manager at Norwich Union before joining Tribe 10 years ago. Since then she has developed and delivered PR campaigns for public and private sector clients including Greene King, Camelot, Sport England, May Gurney, Unilever and Norfolk County Council. Tribe makes sure its clients’ messages get through to the right people, at the right time, in the right way - and the phenomenal growth of social media means that the agency is increasingly advising clients on how to use the digital space to communicate effectively.
